Superman was born Kal-El on the doomed planet Krypton. As Krypton faced imminent destruction, his parents, Jor-El and Lara, placed the infant Kal-El in a spacecraft and sent him to Earth to save his life. The ship crash-landed in Smallville, Kansas, where a kind farming couple, Jonathan and Martha Kent, adopted him and named him Clark Kent.
As Clark grew up, he discovered extraordinary powers that set him apart from everyone else. His Kryptonian physiology, under Earth’s yellow sun, gave him abilities far beyond those of mortal men.
